My fee structure is simple. I keep my fee structure simple to provide clients with predictable costs.
I charge $50 an hour for consultation.
If a client needs help with working out problems in a fiction story of any type or nonfiction work, a lot of clients find it helpful to purchase one hour of time and have a telephone consultation.
If you have shorter works, such as short stories and magazine articles, a couple of hours of time should cover most situations.
If you have a book or movie script, I recommend buying ten hours. To understand how my consultation process works, go here. Because of my process, it costs you a lot less in the end.
NOTE: THIS CONSULTATION BUSINESS IS IN NO WAY ASSOCIATED WITH THE REBECCA PRATT LITERARY GROUP. USE OF KIRSTEN’S SERVICES AS A CONSULTANT WILL EXCLUDE YOU FROM OBTAINING REPRESENTATION FROM KIRSTEN AS A LITERARY AGENT. HIRING KIRSTEN AS A CONSULTANT WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF GAINING REPRESENTATION WITH OTHER LITERARY AGENTS IN THE AGENCY.
My consultation services are in no way connected with my activities as a literary agent. If I do take you on as a consulting client and you receive consultation from me on your written projects, I cannot take you on as a client acting as a literary agent in the future. This condition is in accordance with the stipulations set forth by Predators & Editors.
In my work as a literary agent, you will not be charged a fee for reading or editing services of any kind, in accordance with The Associations of Author’s Representatives Code of Ethics. The literary agency does not have an in-house editing service, and we will not recommend any one editor or service in accordance with ethical guidelines. If you choose to work with an editor at any time before representation or any time during representation by the agency, you do so of your own actions and accord. You are responsible for obtaining your own editor.
My work as a literary agent is totally separate from my work as a writer consultant. Basically, if I have you as a client for writing consultation, I cannot represent you as a literary agent.
Thanks for your understanding. I look forward to working with you!
